That's the time when it's hardest. You've put in all the work and have nothing to show for it. Quite frankly it sucks.
I think the time right before you get the 1cc is the worst though, and thats because you put in all the work to get a 1cc.
you've learned the system, you've memorized the levels enough to know what to do most of the time and then the final boss just screws you over, or some dumb stuff happens on the first 2 stages that you should have avoided anyway. With a shmup, unless it's Zer0Ranger, or Ikaruga GCN, you didn't beat it if you didn't 1cc.
